Husky Softball With Walk Off Top-10 Win Over Nebraska
February 08, 2026 | Softball
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The No. 25 Washington softball team concluded the UTSA Invitational with two Top-10 opponents on Sunday at Roadrunner Field.
The Huskies went 2-3 in the tournament, with their two wins coming in a 17-0 win over host UTSA and today's win over No. 9 Nebraska.
Today's victory over the Huskers was Washington's first win over a ranked team at a neutral site since defeating No. 18 Kentucky on Feb. 16, 2024. In the second game of the day, UW lost 0-5 to No. 1 Texas in a game cut to just six innings due to team travel.
Game 1 – No. 25 Washington vs. No. 9 Nebraska
Jadyn Glab hit a walk-off single to send Ava Carroll home in the bottom of the seventh, helping Washington to a 3-2 win over the Huskers.
The Huskies took an early lead, as a Giselle Alvarez single brought in Alexis DeBoer in the bottom of the first for the first score of the game.
Nebraska responded with a run of its own in the top of the second and the following two innings saw no runs scored. Across five innings pitched, Sophia Ramuno notched eight strikeouts while giving up just two earned runs and five hits.
Washington broke the tie at 1s when Ava Carroll recorded her first home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth, a deep dinger to center, to put UW up 2-1.
The Huskers tied things up at 2 all in the top of the sixth with a hit down the left field line.
Jade Bubke recorded a single in the bottom of the sixth followed by a single from Ally Hetzel, but Washington couldn't convert until the bottom of the seventh.
Carroll again registered a single, advancing on a wild pitch. DeBoer walked to put two Husky runners on first and second. Jing Gardner entered the game to pinch hit for DeBoer and advanced to second on another wild pitch.
Glab then knocked a hit to left center to drive in Carroll and secure the walk off Husky win.
Game 2 – No. 25 Washington vs. No. 1 Texas
Against the top-ranked Longhorns, the Huskies couldn't get much offense going, notching just three hits in six innings of play.
Texas scored two in the second and another three in the third to take a 5-0 lead, that ultimately sealed the deal.
Glab, Bubke and Marley Teasley each registered a hit.
Washington is on the road next weekend, facing Fresno State three times and a game each with San Jose State and Santa Clara.
