Huskies Fall To No. 13 Oregon In Series Opener
May 01, 2026 | Baseball
The Huskies move to 20-25 and 9-13 in Big Ten play.
Washington stormed out to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first frame, thanks to a bases-clearing double from Blake Wilson. He drove in all three runs to give the Huskies the early lead, which they would hold through seven innings.
The Dawgs added their fourth run in the third inning when Ethan Swidler came home on a wild pitch.
Jackson Thomas had a productive outing, throwing 6.0 innings with no earned runs allowed. The Ducks recorded just two hits on the Husky starter while he fanned three batters.
Washington kept Oregon off the board in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. In the seventh, the Ducks nearly had a home run to deep right field, but a leaping Aidan Dougherty pulled it back, saving two runs.
Despite the Husky heroics, Oregon was able to get their bats going late in the game. The Ducks scored four runs in the eighth to take the lead.
Mic Paul and Casen Taggart led the Huskies with two hits each on the day while Blake Wilson led the team with three RBIs.
Washington returns to action on Saturday night in game two against No. 13 Oregon. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
